Prashanth, who was on the run when CBCID started its crackdown on bookies on May 17, surrendered to police on Monday evening. He was allegedly hiding at his friend's place in Chennai.
The police began cracking down on the bookies on May 17, a day after three Rajasthan Royals players S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan were arrested for spot-fixing in the Indian Premier League (IPLT20) 2013.
Police initially thought Prashanth had escaped from the country as his car was found at the airport in Chennai. It turned out that his children had flown to Gujarat. In the last few days, police had started questioning Prashanth's friends and relatives, forcing him to surrender.
The CBCID team has so far arrested seven people - Prashanth, Harish Bajaj, S Vedhachalam, Narpat S Jain alias Lucky, Goutham, Deepak Bajaj and Sunil Bajanlal - in Chennai in connection with betting on cricket matches. It was also reported that when S Sreesanth was arrested from a Mumbai hotel, he was found along with a girl in his hotel room.
